Our Organization

Picture
BCHG is the largest provider of homeless services in Bucks County, caring primarily for families with children as part of several housing programs. Our organization maintains a total of 237 family homeless beds across several programs. We also maintain homeless beds in 42 transitional housing units at our five shelter sites, 20 permanent supportive beds in six rental apartments, and additional beds in the Bridge and Home Stabilization Program.

Who We Are

We are a dedicated contingent of employees, volunteers, and partners, who work to eliminate homelessness in our beloved county. With our main goals in mind, we aim to attenuate the problems associated with being unable to afford housing in the Bucks County area.

Our History

In the mid 1970s, a group of concerned community members noted that there was a growing number of homeless individuals in Bucks County, and they lobbied for the county government to support the establishment of a homeless shelter in Bucks. The first homeless shelter in Bucks County was opened in Penndel in 1979, at which point Bucks County Housing Group was incorporated to assist families and individuals on their journey from homelessness to permanent housing.

Our Success

Bucks County Housing Group works tirelessly towards building a better community.  Here are some numbers that serve to represent how successful our organization is in carrying out its goals:

  • Bucks County Housing Group is the largest provider of homeless services in Bucks County.
  • 100% of the families in our Family Permanent Supportive Housing Program achieve permanent housing stability in the 2016 Fiscal Year.
  • Roughly 400 clients are served annually by our Housing Counseling program
  • In the 2016 Fiscal Year, 553,594 pounds of food were donated to our community food pantries. This equates to $952,000 of food. Our community food pantries used this food to serve 47,689 customers.
  • Our agency touches the lives of over 57,000 individuals each year.
  • During the 2016 Fiscal Year, we received a total of 932 monetary donations from 776 donors.
