A warm summer evening, great food, including Aunt Helen’s Perogies, excited volunteers, residents, staff, neighbors, officials and construction folks turned out to dedicate the newly re-sided Milford Square SHP shelter site on July 3, 2012.
The Milford Square site houses a shelter for families; typically women and children who are homeless. The building is an old frame house built at the turn of the last century. It has been modified to house six families and support staff. While BCHG has been able to keep pace with interior improvements and necessary electric and plumbing upgrades, attention for the last three years has been on securing funding to put siding on the building. And through the amazing efforts of many volunteers, community members, businesses Milford Square is Wrapped Up! with a brand new look! Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, State Representative Paul Clymer and Milford Township Supervisor Charles Strunk were on hand to participate and joined BCHG Executive Director Nancy Szamborski and BCHG Board of Directors President Donna McQuillen to honor all those who participated in this extraordinary drive to secure all the funding needed to complete the job!
